EB5 Visa doubters proved wrong
May 4th, 2011

eb5 doubters proved wrongGoing back six or seven years when the had started to raise interest in its new format there were less than a handful of regional centers that had been approved by to offer programs. EB5 Regional Center List – Approved by USCIS

At that time there was very little information based on facts to rely on. Those early investors had very little to rely on and a number wrote to expat blog sites to ask the advice of others.

The advice was often less than helpful with talks of (which at that time did not exist). Unfortunately the potential immigrant investors writing to these sites did not appreciate that the people replying to them on the site often knew less than they did! Some were recommended to instead apply for or visa.

Fast forward to 2011 and the vast majority of those initial investors are happily settled in the as permanent residents with a number planning to become US Citizens. A number of the earlier investors have received some or all of their $500,000 back.

We are aware of some of those who used the E2 or L1 route subsequently running into problems leading to their having to leave the USA.

We have previously looked at the dangers of EB-5 investment visa information on the web and in magazines, we now look at some of the potential dangers of immigration exhibitions.
February 10th, 2009

A number of immigrants considering relocation to the find it useful to go to an . These can provide an opportunity to obtain information from presenters identified as experts and talk to a number of exhibitors.

There is a perspective that by talking to stand holders at exhibitions gives a feeling of insurance, as presumably they have been checked out by the exhibition organizers, particularly if the organizers are a well known magazine or promoter.

It needs to be remembered however that exhibition organizers do not always have the facilities to check out all the companies who are exhibiting and in the past this has led to occasional problems with rogue traders.

Currently there are investigations by the FBI into allegations against New Horizons and Derrick Coles regarding missing .

New Horizons presented free immigration and property and also  featured at a number of shows for several years, giving advice at the invitation of the organizers as speakers. However, following recent developments an article in a local paper alleged a history of problems which a comprehensive background check could have exposed see the article here  http://www.derickcoles.com/Images/lymingtontimes.pdf

Sadly we have been made aware of a number of other problems arising from information given at exhibitions subsequently involving potential or false information where emigrants have applied for visas through an scheme losing not just the opportunity for a visa, but also their life savings. Although there have subsequently been prosecutions and TV coverage warning others, these have not helped the unfortunate .

Although these issues affect only a small minority of immigrants they obviously have a devastating impact on the victims – for more information on the fraud issues we are aware of click here
